the unlikely naturalist roadtrip

In the summer of 2012 I took a month long road trip across the American South to paint the flora and fauna of the natural world and immerse myself in Southern Gothic literature. This journey resulted in the body of work I call The Unlikely Naturalist. You can see more photos from my journey on instagram by searching #theunlikelynaturalist

Filmed when I was in the studio working on a 12 foot wide diptych tree painting about the family of New Orleans for the New Orleans Anthropologie store.
