It is ten years since I graduated high school. Six years since I graduated college. Two years since I started my business. Sixteen months since my first solo show.

The new year always seems to make you put those notches on the pole.

I'm working on new work in the cold winter studio. Current inspirations include: underground, bare limbs, birds in flight, petals, pears, puddles, worms, wings, wonderlands, hair, braids, blooms, overlapping, distance, burial, planting, piling, wrapping, unraveling, counting, coloring-in.

I'm introducing a new project called "The Year of Believing"!!
I will release one limited edition print each month in the year 2010. Each is limited to an edition of 5. They are available for $100 each, and only during the month of it's release. I hope you enjoy starting your "Year of Believing" collection. Each month's artwork will strive to be a gentle reminder that Belief is a feeling and that feeling is a choice. Choose to believe in yourself, in the world, in something magical and wondrous, and see what happens when you believe. I know that's what I need right now. I'm hoping others will find what they need somewhere in these 12 pieces. I look forward to sharing them with the world, one by one.

My Fall Newsletter is now online at my blog http://rebeccarebouche.blogspot.com/
Updates include Dream Trees, a 30 foot braid, and the last circus of 2009. I just showed my work in a pop-up gallery in downtown Covington, LA last weekend. This week I'm back in New Orleans, making deliveries, hosting studio visits, and making new work. I'm updating my etsy shop often during this holiday season, and looking for the perfect space to show the braid piece. If you are a gallery that is interested in showing the braid, please contact me. If you are a customer who is interested in seeing my available works, please contact me for a studio visit. Thanks for checking in. Bon November!

I'm in the studio working on a new body of inspired work. Today is the first day that feels like fall and hopeful. I'll be showing here and there in the New Orleans area for Fall and hosting studio visits at my studio Uptown. I'm currently accepting commissions for tree paintings and other works. Feel free to contact me to discuss a commission or schedule a studio visit.

I will be showing upwards of 20 NEW paintings and stitch pieces at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival this year. I am showing second weekend only (April 30-May 3). That's four solid days of good music, food, and new paintings from the Rebouche Studio. For best selection, pop in my booth early on Thursday. Look for me in the Contemporary Crafts area with my usual circus-tent style booth. or, Request an opportunity to pre-purchase via internet or a studio visit.
Sorry this little post is so short. I'm tying loose ends as I type.
Hope to see you out there!

Hello world!

I have exciting news to share! This month (august), I am the featured artist for Rare magazine.
Rare is an Austin-based arts and culture magazine that's published each month chock full of glossy colorful happenings, cool people, good eats, and general aliveness in Austin, TX (a place I called home for a bit).
The feature is any artist's dream, including my art on the cover and on 10 full pages throughout, a playful pic of me (shot in New Orleans at Slim Goodies), and a sweet full-page write-up. Thank you to Rare for the awesome feature!
All artwork in the magazine (plus some) will be on display and for sale at the opening on Aug. 23 at Montage Clothings on North Loop in Austin.

If you're in the Austin area, come on out to Montage on Aug. 23 for sweet art and earth-friendly fashions, circus-tent dressing rooms, hula hoops, projected style show in the courtyard, refreshing tonics, and music to move you.

Anyone not in the Austin area who is interested in purchasing a piece from the magazine, just email me! rebecca@rebeccarebouche.com

rare-in,
Rebecca

Next Show!
Art Fair at Jackson Hole - July 18-20, 2008
Miller Park, Jackson Hole, WY

Between my show in Des Moines and my show in Denver, I had about a week, 700 miles, and I needed to make some more paintings. SO, a room at a Days Inn in Paxton, Nebraska became my studio for 3 days. It turned out to be a haven of perfect road-living, art-making nothingness. A cheap hotel room with a mini-fridge, microwave, and wifi, with a gas station in front, a pond on the side, barbeque pits, and open air... what more could I want?

It's difficult to describe the serene beauty of Paxton, Nebraska. Flat corn fields, backdropped by mountain-like hills, wheat-fields calmly waving in the wind, one grocery store, one main street, not much else.

Hello world!!

I only have a hot second to write a post. This train keeps movin. I'm heading out of Des Moines today, en route to Denver for my next show, the Cherry Creek Art Festival.

The first leg of this trip was awesome! We tent-camped at State Parks along the way of a drawn out three-day drive to Des Moines. The Art Show was a success with big sales and great people.

Pack up the truck boys, we're headin for Iowa!

Hello friends,
After a brief re-fueling break in nola, I hit the road again today.
This week I will be en route to Des Moines, IA for a show this weekend.
Our hearts go out to the lovely people in the surrounding area who are trying to dry out and recover from devastating flooding (we know what that's like).

For more info on the show, here's the fest site: http://www.desmoinesartsfestival.org/

and of course, stay tuned to tha blog for pics and stories from the road, and fresh new work as soon as it comes out the oven (ahem... my brain).

happy summer!

Spring is upon us, and the sun in new orleans has been a medicinal addition to my days. I'm hard at work in my sunny studio making new paintings and small mixed media works on paper. My Art for Breakfast Blog has fallen to less than daily postings, but rest-assured it is only because I'm so busy with the larger scale offerings. I have so many shows coming up here in new orleans and around the country. I can't wait to get out there for show and tell.
If you would like to be added to my mailing list, you can sign up by sending me a message in the built-in contact window on this site.

Thanks for your interest and support.

sunny,
Rebecca
Art Markets
You may have seen my work recently at the local Bywater and New Orleans Art Markets. Thank you to all my new customers and for all the positive feedback. I'll be showing next at the 3 Rivers Art Festival in Covington on Nov. 10-11. It should be a beautiful weekend for shopping and enjoying fall. Hope to see you there.
Fleur de Lis
Look for my painted Fleur de Lis sculpture located at 324 Camp St. in the CBD in front of Peter Mayer Advertising. This piece is part of the New Orleans public art project organized by the Arts Council of New Orleans and the ForeKids! Foundation. There are 40 sculptures painted by local artists, and placed on the streets of new orleans where they will stay until October when the unsold will be auctioned. The proceeds from this exciting project are managed by the ForeKids Foundation and go to various children's charities. Map the locations of all Fleur de Lis sculptures here.
